Love Island’s Iain Stirling in talks for Strictly Come Dancing
Strictly Come Dancing bosses are eyeing up Love Island narrator Iain Stirling for the upcoming 2020 series.
According to reports, the comedian has been in conversations with execs over an appearance on the BBC ballroom competition show, with the rumoured line-up also listing Stacey Solomon and Jamie Laing.
‘Iain’s had a few talks with the show and the ball is in his court,’ a TV insider said.
‘It’s early days but bosses are really keen to get him on the dancefloor – he’s a great name who would be popular with the audience.’
They continued to The Sun: ‘There was some talk about whether he had a golden handcuffs deal with ITV which could scupper things but if not, he’d be a real catch for the show.’
Earlier this month, it was reported that bosses are hoping to sign celebrities who don’t have young children or other dependents so they can be away from home for a long period of time to isolate before, during, and after the show.
‘The team at Strictly have plans A, B and C — each corresponding to the level of risk,’ a source added. ‘One measure being looked at is booking stars who do not have young dependents.’
It’s also been reported Strictly is hoping to welcome its doors to the show’s first-ever all-female couple and are hoping to book Jessie J or Gillian Anderson for the landmark move.
