The Queen Complained That Trump "Ruined" Her Lawn During His Visit
The Queen reportedly joked about her lawn being "ruined" by Donald Trump's helicopters during his state visit.
She apparently made the light-hearted comment to Australian prime minister Scott Morrison the day after Trump's arrival.
Trump and his wife Melania arrived in the UK on June 3.
On the first day of the visit, the couple landed in Marine One in front of the palace, while a support helicopter also touche3d down on the lawn.
Later in the day, the president made another helicopter journey from Winfield House, the US ambassador's residence where he was staying, back to the palace.
The helicopter again landed on the palace's lawn so the president could attend a state banquet.
According the Sunday Times , a source close to Morrison said the Queen had commented on the scorch marks and divots thought to have been caused by the helicopter's engines and its wheels.
She is reported to have said: "Come and look at my lawn. It's ruined."
Morrison had travelled to the UK for the 75th D-Day commemorations.
It is believed the comment was made in a light-hearted manner.
In a string of tweets, the US president said of his trip: "London part of trip is going really well. The Queen and the entire Royal Familyhave been fantastic.
"The relationship with the United Kingdom is very strong."
